Grafana Integration

The Grafana integration allows Velocity to ingest information for monitoring and insights.

For Grafana versions 10.4.0 and above, integrating Velocity is as simple as installing our Grafana plugin. For older versions, the integration is completed by setting up a service account and token, as explained below.

Step 1 - Get a Service Account Token

  1. Open your Grafana instance and navigate to Administration, then click Plugins and data -> Plugins

  2. In the Plugins page, search for Velocity and click the Install button on the top right corner of the screen.

  3. Wait a few minutes for the installation to finish and refresh the page. You should see a new Configuration tab.

  4. Open the Configuration tab and click on Connect. A token should appear in the text box.

  5. Copy the token.

Step 2 - Submit your token and Grafana URL

Submit the token from step 1 as well as your Grafana full URL, including https://. on our web app integration page -

Your instance must be reachable from the Internet.

Follow these steps in your Grafana account to create a Service Account and a Service Account Token

Step 1 - Create a new Service Account

  1. Navigate to Administration settings, then click Users and access -> Service accounts

  2. Click "Add service account" at the top right

  3. Enter a name for the new role, for example, Velocity Service Account

  4. Select the following permissions

    1. Alerting - Notifications Writer

    2. Alerting - Notifications Reader

    3. Alerting - Full read-only access

    4. Alerting - Access to alert rules provisioning API

    5. Data sources - Reader

  5. Click Create

Step 2 - Create a Service Account Token

  1. In the newly created service account screen (Velocity Service Account), click "Add service account token"

  2. Enter a name for the new role, for example, Velocity Service Account Token

  3. Click Generate token

  1. Copy the new key to your clipboard

Step 3 - Submit your token and Grafana URL

Submit the token from step 2 as well as your Grafana full URL, including https://. on our web app integration page -
