Splunk Integration

The Splunk integration allows Velocity to collect critical observability data to enhance incident triage and root cause analysis.

Step 1: Create a Service Account User

  1. Go to Settings → Users → New User.

  2. Set a descriptive username (e.g. velocity_user).

  3. Assign the user to a read-only role.

  4. Set an app context if needed (usually search).

  5. Save.

Step 2: Generate an Authentication Token

  1. In Splunk Web: Settings → Tokens (under Users & Authentication)

  2. Choose User: select the service account you created

  3. Audience: set an audience (optional, for scoping); leave default if not used by your tooling.

  4. Create the token and copy it once. You won’t be able to view the full token again after closing the dialog.

Step 3 - Submit Your API Key

  1. Log in to your Velocity account at https://app.velocity.tech

  2. Navigate to Application > Integrations.

  3. Select Splunk from the available integrations.

  4. Enter your Splunk token.

  5. Click Create Integration to complete the integration setup.

Once connected, Velocity can begin ingesting observability data from your Splunk account in real time, enabling faster issue detection and improved reliability metrics.

If needed, a new dedicated API user can be created within Splunk for this integration. The token can then be generated from this dedicated user account.
